Radio previews for Kikkawa Yuu’s B-sides titled Mizuiro and LOVE YOU FOREVER that are featured respectively on the Limited Editions C & B of her 2nd single have been released.
When I first gave the 2 songs a listen, I was really amazed like many fans by the variety the B-sides all have and with the effort put in making them so different and unique, and while Sweetie and Mizuiro both have an upbeat rythm and energetic sound like the A-side, LOVE YOU FOREVER on the other hand is a calm ballad that has a very interesting Rn’B feel to it alongside a very mature-sounding Kikka.
Firstly, Mizuiro seems to be another kind of upbeat sound since it doesn’t ressemble the A-side or Sweetie in any way apart from the energy they all have, and I particularly like how many energetic songs were included in the release to make everyone get up happily (which is Kikka’s rule), and the song itself has a drum-based instrumental with guitar all along and many variations in the rhythm that gets slower near the end, as well as great additions like the soft line Kikka sings during the music break or the high notes she hits when singing Nee, Suki Deshita or even the quick repetitive words she says right after that all add up to make this song special in it’s own way.
LOVE YOU FOREVER on the other hand is a calm ballad with an Rn’B feel to it in its instrumental which I really liked since it’s a new type of songs for Kikka to sing (her voice fits extremely well), and having it alongside an energetic A-side should please many fans who like the contradiction between happy and soft songs on a single, specially with this unique song that shows us how great Kikka’s vocal ability is since she manages to fit her voice to the happy songs as well as the slow emotional ones, as well as her capacity to sing many different tones and rhythms.
Overall, after hearing those B-sides, there’s nothing else than to hope that everyone will get as amazed as I am by the effort put in this release and will support Kikka by purchasing a copy of their selected edition to enjoy an amazing A-side with even more amazing B-sides that seem to be the strong point in Kikka’s single.
Hopefully everyone can listen to the songs at least once to get an idea and if you like it, please consider purchasing a copy to support Kikka and her hard work!
The release date is set for 10/5.
