Hello! Project members appearing in apps is nothing new since there have been a few special edition apps by H!P released to promote singles, but H!P members appearing in other apps hasn’t happened, until now. Many might be familiar with the Bijin-Tenki app, but for those who don’t know it’s a Japanese app which shows pretty girls holding up signs that show the time or weather.
Promotion for Mobekimasu’s single has been strong and while the traditional promotions work well it’s usually the original promotions that are most effective, so I’m really happy to see that members are appearing in the Biji-Tenki app to promote their single.
So far it seems that only a few members from each group will appear (C-ute being the exception since all members are scheduled to appear), and while it might be a bit disappointing to see only a few members appear I am still glad that they decided to do this promotion since it seems like a pretty original way to promote.
It seems that one member will appear each day and so far Captain, Wada, and Kumai (currently today’s featured girl) have appeared, so I look forward to finding out how the other member’s pictures will look since the idea is very interesting and until now the pictures have been all amazing.
The app features five pictures per member so fans should have plenty to enjoy each day, and while I’m not sure if it’s temporary (it probably is) I hope we can continue to see the members after they have all had a chance to appear.
To get a Japanese account to download the app you will have to make an alternate account, here are a few steps for those who have an iPhone/iPod:
  1. Log out of current account if you are still signed in, after that change the region to Japan (the bottom right corner)
  2. Type in Dwango (the name of the publisher for the app)
  3. Click on free and then make new account (use an alternate email that is not used on iTunes)
  4. After making your account click on “Free” button and download app
I already had an alternate account for Japanese apps and I have downloaded the app, and so far there isn’t that much to see since I don’t understand how to set it up but it seems that the section where the H!P members appear is easy to access, just click the icon with the girl on the selection bar and then the giant blue button once the page with the member loads.
Hopefully we get to see more of this unique promotion strategies since they seem like a fun way of promoting the members and releases.
