Left: CD / Right: DVD
The CD and DVD covers for Hello! Project’s Pucchi Best 11 have been revealed. When I first saw the covers, I was really impressed since they managed to execute a very simple idea that isn’t new at all (which is the game card’s theme) in a very nice and elegant way that made those covers stand out, and even though I’m not usually a fan of montages since I prefer group shots or pictures taken specially for the cover with similar outfits, I have to admit that for once, I find it really nice and the montage is well done to fit with the overall look of the covers.
As some might have noticed, the cover’s setting is a packet of game cards thrown all together with 9 main cards standing out in both covers and which all represent Kings, Queens, Jacks and Aces featuring pictures of the selected groups and artists that have songs included on the CD or music videos featured on the DVD, and the nice touch is that they actually matched the profile pictures for the groups/artists on the cover with the title of their most recent release included on the CD and done the same to the DVD’s pictures since it is mainly the latest song’s PV that is featured on the DVD (which would explain the lack of differences between the pictures except for Mano), which is why we get to see Berryz Koubou in Ai no Dangan outfits instead of Aa, Yo ga Akeru!, or C-ute in Momoiro Sparkling outfits instead of Sekaiichi HAPPY na Onna no Ko.
Since the tracks on the CD feature solo songs by both Koha and Ai-chan, I found it really nice that they displayed them clearly alongside the main groups since it will allow fans to figure out the content of the CD judging by the cover, but I would have liked Mobekimasu’s shot on the DVD cover to be a little bigger since it is very important, but still, the most impressive would definitely be the elegant way the title is disposed on the covers since it’s the main focus written in an elegant white font against an all-red card for the CD which turns blue for the DVD (it is one of the small changed details that differentiate between the two) that really matched the whole without taking too much attention from the pictures all around.
Overall, this is definitely one of the most creative Pucchi Best covers I have seen so far since the simple theme with the nice execution really make a nice combination, and I like it even more that they managed to fit everyone in the montage on an equal share which will please all of the fans of selected groups and artists, as well as the very nice idea of featuring the artist’s pictures for their latest release featured on the CD/DVD while changing the pictures on both covers to make each one a little more unique (even though the outfits are the same in both).
The release date is set for 12/7.
